With the end of the school year approaching, Charles & Margery Barancik Foundation encourages Sarasota County Schools educators to make time this summer to plan a dream project that will renew their love for the art of teaching.

Applications are now open for Barancik Foundation’s 2026 TIME Fellowship.  Through this initiative, the Foundation will award 25 eligible Sarasota County Schools educators up to $12,000 each to complete personal projects that they design to recharge them professionally and rejuvenate them personally.

More information and the online application can be found at BarancikFoundation.org/TIME.  The deadline to apply for the 2026 TIME Fellowship is September 29.

“Margie and Chuck Barancik understood the crucial role that a highly effective educator plays in a child’s academic growth and future success,” said Teri A Hansen, president and CEO of Barancik Foundation.  “We created the TIME Fellowship to offer our community’s hard-working teachers the time and space to creatively explore how they can be even better at what they do.”

Time to Inspire Margie’s Educators

The TIME Fellowship is open to teachers, assistant principals, and principals in Sarasota County Schools who meet additional eligibility criteria detailed in the online application materials.  The goal of the TIME initiative is to inspire educators to recommit to their love of teaching and their dedication to their students, ultimately supporting the retention of high-quality educators in the Sarasota County school district.  “TIME” stands for “Time to Inspire Margie’s Educators,” and the fellowship was named in honor of Margie Barancik, who was a teacher herself.

This marks the fifth year that Barancik Foundation is offering the TIME Fellowship.  To date, 100 educators have been awarded TIME Fellowships.  Past fellowship projects have tapped into teachers’ interests as varied as the origins of astronomy as a scientific field to the latest trends in contemporary theater to the training techniques of some of the country’s top weightlifting and strength coaches.
