Twenty-five more Sarasota County Schools educators will receive the resources to complete the educational experience of a lifetime as recipients of Charles & Margery Barancik Foundation’s 2026 TIME Fellowship.

Awarded annually, the TIME Fellowship provides public-school educators with up to $12,000 to complete intellectually stimulating projects that they design to renew them professionally and rejuvenate them personally. Ultimately, the fellowships are intended to spark new energy and creative approaches to teaching and learning in Sarasota County classrooms and schools.

“Margie Barancik was a former teacher herself, and she and Chuck loved the teachers in this community,” said Teri A Hansen, president and CEO of Barancik Foundation. “They also felt that teachers should be treated as the professionals they are. Our TIME Fellowship provides our district’s dedicated educators with the time and space to reconnect with their love of teaching.”

TIME stands for “Time to Inspire Margie’s Educators.” The fellowship program was created in 2022 in memory of Margie and Chuck Barancik.

“Nearly half of the TIME Fellows selected this year had applied before, several of them multiple times,” noted Barancik Foundation’s Hansen. “We encourage educators whose proposals were not chosen for 2026 to consider applying again next year.”

The new class of TIME Fellows will complete their fellowship experiences during the 2026 calendar year. Since 2022, Barancik Foundation has awarded 125 Sarasota County Schools educators with the TIME Fellowship.
